The Process
This homeowner wanted huge prints of local photographs to decorate this gorgeous new (2024) seven bedroom rental home. As a past client of Kristin Rahn Photography, she reached out when the home was nearing completion. While we walked through the property, she showed me the spaces where she wanted to put large canvas print and talked about the images she had in mind.
She had been through my website and identified 20 images of interest. As we discussed what drew her to the images, I made notes so I could suggest others. I also encouraged her not to buy all the art at once... buy some, hang them, then make more decisions.
I then measured all the spaces and took photos of the empty walls, noting the maximum size it could hold and the minimum size that wouldn't look lonely.
Back home, I expanded the set of images for consideration and dropped off a set of 4x6 images on photo paper that she could take to the home and place on the walls. I also wrote up a small document with photos of the blank walls, the image themes she was interested in for the space, and the min and max print sizes.
After another session in the home, the owner selected 8 prints. She was itching to select more (to be done with decorating the home) but again, I urged her to wait.
A week later the prints arrived and the home owners installed them. I returned for another working session. The prints were stunning! The homeowner was glad she had not chosen something for every space because seeing the first set installed, plus her process on other decor, gave her new ideas. Four more images were selected, order and hung. No prints were installed in the two kids bunk rooms.
I offered this support free of charge and passed on any discounts from the print shop.
